Our History

​

Originally started in 2011 in a small garage near McMaster University, in Hamilton Ontario, Steel City Machine Works is a skunkworks for all things related to mechanical technology.   

​

Although the base of operations has changed since then, the name remains, paying homage to the city where the concept originated from.

​

Our Ideology

​

We believe humanity can achieve great things. There is always some margin for improvement when it comes to what we can do, and how to reduce the cost to ourselves and our planet. We know every step we take to increase our sustainability is important.

The company goal is to create and support new technologies by looking for non-conventional solutions. Thinking outside the box is an understatement; we typically don't acknowledge the box in the first place.

What We Do

We specialize in taking a high concept idea, applying the science to get a superior design, and then bring it into reality. No matter how intricate the design may be, we can come up with a solution.

To summarize, we are a multi talented group of engineers highly experienced in:

• Mechanical Design & Engineering 

• 3D and 2D drawings, models and simulations

• Strength rating and FEA optimization

• Building Prototype machines and devices

• Dealing with the early stages and concept drawings for Patent  application

• Modifying, optimizing and improving pre-existing equipment.

• Feasibility studies and Business case for projects including payback calculations

 

All of our technologies are kept secret until patents are released. Primarily, the company has been working on technology relating to power-train technology in the automotive stream, but has more recently expanded to supporting innovation in the industrial and mining industries.

 

We are proud to announce that starting summer 2020, Steel City Machine Works is now offering direct-hiring as consultants in the industrial sector, to provide support and knowledge where conventional methods currently dominate. We aim to bring a new viewpoint and better solutions. After all, our ideas are born from modern technology.
